The Sonnet Fusion D500P is the building block for a top-end eSATA RAID array. Able to contain 5 hot-swappable drives, it can run them all from a single eSATA controller (the controller must support port multipliers) on a card such as the Sonnet Tempo X4P (PCI/PCI-X) or the Sonnet Tempo E4P (PCI-Express). This allows a 4 port eSATA controller to work with up to 20 drives across 4 Fusion D500P enclosures. Giving affordable access to blisteringly fast disk arrays - the kind of performance once only available in SCSI setups costing tens of thousands of pounds.

The Fusion D500P supports both 3GB/s SATA II drives, and older 1.5GB/s SATA units, and it can use drives of up to 10,000RPM. It comes with trays for 5 drives, and additional trays can be purchased to allow for easy hot-swapping of drives.

Important: If you intend to use the drives in the D500P in a RAID setup you are highly recommended to buy drives designed for use in a RAID. These are generally somewhat more expensive and are not listed on the macupgrades.co.uk site, but we can supply them if you call us on 01223 833 412.

Please note that this is a hard drive enclosure, and is not sold with any included hard drives.
