Sonnet Tempo-X PCI eSATA X4P Expansion Card

This is a PCI card, and is used in desktop computers - for Macs this means that it is only compatible with PowerMac computers previous to the PowerMac G5 Dual Core, since only these PowerMacs have PCI slots (please see the compatibility listing below for the list of compatible PowerMacs for this product).

Able to control up to 20 drives, the Tempo SATA X4P delivers performance previously unattainable with mainstream technologies. For the utmost performance, you can create multiple RAID arrays to capture and process uncompressed high definition video, or conquer other high-bandwidth applications.

You also have the flexibility to work with 20 drives individually and hot-swap them out as needed. You can even work with a combination of RAID arrays and individual drives.

The perfect enclosure to work with the Tempo X4P is the Sonnet Fusion D500P, a 5 bay drive enclosure with support for port multipliers. Each controller on the X4P can control an entire Fusion D500P array!

Please note the following warning from Sonnet: While some customers have successfully used external hard drives with dual USB 2.0/eSATA interfaces, these products (based on the Oxford Semiconductor OXU931DS storage controller chip) exhibit underlying errors that prevent them from being fully compatible with this Sonnet product under Mac OS X. Kernel panics occurring when the drive is connected, and the drive not being recognized by the operating system are known issues. These drives include, but are not limited to:
