Lite-On 22X DVD+/-RW DL IDE - IHAP122-19 (10.5 and later)

This internal optical drive is a 5.25" IDE device, and will fit internally in PowerMac and Mac Pro computers from the G3 to the Mac Pro 2008 (the Nehalem based 2009 mac pros use a SATA drive). It will also fit in a G4 eMac, although the install process is difficult.

Please note that for some PowerMacs (eg the Quicksilver) the design of the case is such that it is necessary to remove the lip on the drive tray to allow it to eject. This is a simple operation - eject the tray and you can unclip the plastic lip easily.

This device is a SuperDrive - it will read and write both CDs and DVDs.

This optical drive is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and later and will boot the Mac, support finder burning and burning from within applications. It can be used on lower operating systems to read disks but it may not boot the Mac and will require dedicated burning software (not supplied) in order to write disks. If you are not running 10.5 (or later) and need an optical drive that can boot the Mac and/or work with finder burning and burning from within applications, we recommend this product.
