It is a SODIMM (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module) memory chip, which is generally used in laptop computers.The RAM is DDR3 RAM, which allows data to be transferred 8 times quicker than the data rate of the memory cells it contains.

This product is compatible with the following Macs:

MacBook Pro 15.4": Suitable for MacBook Pro 15" machines released after October 2008. SuperDrive slot should be on the right-hand side, not the front.
MacBook Pro 17": Suitable for MacBook Pro 17" machines released after January 2009. SuperDrive slot should be on the right-hand side, not the front.
MacBook Pro 13"
MacBook (White or Black): Suitable for the Unibody White MacBooks released in October 2009, which have a 1066MHz bus speed, and a 1066MHz memory speed.
iMac (Intel): Suitable for iMacs release from 4th March 2009 until 27th July 2010.
Mac mini (Intel): Should be installed in pairs. Only suitable for models after March 2009 (includes June 2010 revision), so suitable for all Mac minis with a bus speed of 1066MHz.
