The Sonnet Fusion F2 is one of the most innovative storage products to be produced in a long while, and it has received rave reviews. Targeted at the video or audio professional who requires portable fast storage, the F2 manages to deliver this perfectly.

The 14.9 x 15.7 x 1.8 cm unit weighs 0.55kg, and contains two 2.5" SATA hard drives, which can be configured as either RAID 0 (high speed) or RAID 1 (redundancy) by using OSX's Disk Utility. The drive has two eSATA ports and takes power from a FireWire 400 port. This makes the drive perfect for doing video work with a MacBook Pro - you can connect the drive via eSATA (you need to add this via an Express34 card) and FireWire 400 for power, leaving your FireWire 800 bus free to capture from. With the drive formatted in RAID 0 you have a large amount of super fast storage you can use anywhere.

To avoide overhead and reduce the weight of the unit the Fusion F2 does not use port multiplier technology, therefore you will need two free ports on your eSATA controller to use this unit.

This drive contains 2 x 500GB 7200RPM 2.5" SATA disks. This can be configured as either 1TB of super-fast RAID 0 or 500GB of super-reliable RAID 1.
