This is a 4GB module of DDR3-PC3-8500.

It is a SODIMM (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module) memory chip, which is generally used in laptop computers.The RAM is DDR3 RAM, which allows data to be transferred 8 times quicker than the data rate of the memory cells it contains.

Compatibility

This product is compatible with the following Macs:

MacBook Pro 15.4": Only compatible with machines released from June 2009 - SuperDrive slot on the right-hand side, has an SD card slot but no ExpressCard slot.
MacBook Pro 17": Suitable for MacBook Pro 17" machines released after January 2009. SuperDrive slot should be on the right-hand side, not the front.
MacBook Pro 13": Not compatible with the MacBook Aluminum, only the MacBook Pro 13" released in June 2009. The MacBook Pro 13" has a FireWire 800 port and an SD card slot which are missing from the earlier MacBook Aluminium.
iMac (Intel): Suitable for iMacs release from 4th March 2009 until 27th July 2010.
Mac mini (Intel): Should be installed in pairs. Only suitable for models after June 2010 - these have the redesigned case (easy user memory installation) and have no external power adapter, unlike earlier models.
