OCZ Vertex 3 range of SATA 600 SSDs are ideal for consumers or small businesses looking for an affordable way to extend the life of desktops or notebooks at a lower cost than a replacement system. This SSD is in a 2.5in SATA form factor. To allow you to mount this into a desktop Mac, which takes a 3.5in SATA hard drive, we include an Icy Dock 2.5in to 3.5in backplane adapter. This is an enclosure and converter for the 2.5in unit, which presents the ports in the correct place for easy installation into a 3.5in bay in a desktop Mac. In an iMac this will replace the main system drive, in a Mac Pro or PowerMac G5 it can be used as an additional drive - allowing for example a small SSD to be used for the OS, and a large standard drive for data.

This is the 120GB model of the OCZ Vertex 3 SATA 600 SSD, with 3.5" Backplane adapter.

iMac (Intel): If fitting this drive yourself into models from the Late 2009 iMac onwards (all models with 4 RAM sockets), a copy of HDDFan Control should be purchased from the developer to allow correct operation of the hard drive temperature sensor and fans. Professional installation recommended. Not intended for Late 2012 revision.
