The Hitachi Deskstar 3.5" SATA drive is a quality hard drive we recommend for G5 desktop machines i.e G5 PowerMacs and iMacs. They are excellent drives and come with a 3 year warranty. They can also be used in earlier PowerMacs, but require installing a SATA host adaptor in a PCI slot - for example the Sonnet Tempo SATA PCI Card.

The Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C is a 7200RPM 3.5" SATA II hard drive, available in capacities from 160GB - 1TB.

This is the 160GB version of this drive with an 8MB buffer.

If you don't want to fit this drive yourself, we can fit it for you. Simply add the relevant fitting service to your cart. We also offer an optional drive cloning service, where if we are installing a drive for you we can duplicate the contents of your old drive onto the new one. If you prefer to fit the drive yourself, please be aware you may need some tools. Most desktop Macs use Phillips or flathead screws to secure the case. Please see our standard screwdriver set. If you are fitting this drive as an additional hard drive in a G4 PowerMac you may also be interested in some hard drive screws.
