MacBook Pro Retina - Upgrade & Repair
MacBook Pro Retina
The MacBook Pro Retina range was launched in 2012 as a replacement for the MacBook Pro Unibody. It made the bold for the time decision to drop the internal DVD drive completely, and introduced the high resolution "Retina" display.
These Macs are considerably harder to upgrade than previous models. RAM is soldered in place and cannot be upgraded, and the batteries are glued to the top case making replacement a much more involved job. While drives are replaceable on the non-Touch Bar models, they are of a non-standard type and industry standard internal drives cannot be used as replacements.
We offer a range of repair services for these machines. We are very experienced at logic board repair and can replace faulty drives (not on Touch Bar models), batteries, screens, cables and other components.
MacBook Pro Retina Touch Bar
These MacBook Pro Retinas, launched between 2016 and 2020, replaced the row of function keys on the keyboard with a configurable Touch Bar.
MacBook Pro Retina (Non-Touchbar)
MacBook Pro Retinas that have a standard row of function keys, rather than the Touchbar seen on some later models. These models were released between 2012 and 2017.
