At MacUpgrades, we have been doing Macintosh repairs and upgrades since 2001. If you know what the fault is with your machine we have many fixed-cost services available on our website, and even if we do not offer it online if you contact us with a known fault we can often give you a firm quote on a guaranteed fix. However, if you do not know the cause of the problem, we need to evaluate the machine first. This service requires you to bring or send your Mac to us, and provide us with a description of the fault. We will then come back to you with a quote for a full repair. The evaluation fee will, in all but the most complex cases, be counted against the labour charge for performing the fix. So if the fault turns out to be a hard drive failure you would only be charged extra labour for fitting a new drive if our fixed cost hard drive fitting service for that Mac is more than the evaluation fee, and then you will only pay the difference (plus the cost of the new drive).

What this service is not for

Software faults. We are a hardware specialist, and while we can often help with software problems, we need to discuss the issue with you first. Please contact us regarding software problems rather than booking this service.

Servicing. We do not offer computer "servicing" since it becomes difficult to define what we are being paid to do. You do not need to know the cause of the problem to use this service (that is what the service is for), but there does need to be a defined problem for us to work with. We are always happy to discuss more general issues, and may be able to suggest fixes or upgrades that may resolve them - please contact us.

To go ahead with this service please simply add it to your cart and book the order out. Then bring or send your Mac into us (we can also send a courier to collect it). Either use the notes field available during the checkout process to tell us details of the fault, or include a covering letter with the machine, or tell us in person if you are bringing the Mac in yourself. An Admin password to the machine may be needed if we are investigating the hard drive, but it is not for unrelated faults. For faults that do not involve the drive, you can physically remove it before sending the machine to us if you wish.
