Mac mini M1 > Tools

The Mac mini M1 was one of the initial Macs released with the new ARM based Apple Silicon CPUs. Reception of the new machines has been extremely positive with the new architecture delivering excellent performance, though when compared to the previous Mac mini 2018, the M1 can take dramatically less RAM (64GB vs 16GB), which makes them unsuitable for some of the use cases of the previous model.

These Macs are not upgradeable after purchase, though they have fast Thunderbolt and USB connectivity that allows extremely quick external storage to be used. We would strongly advise buying the machine with 16GB of RAM however - 8GB will look increasingly limited in a few years time.
