This is an Express/34 card, which will work with laptops with an Express34 or Express/54 slot. For Macs this means the MacBook Pro range - NB: The MacBook does not have an ExpressCard slot.

The Sonnet tempo SATA Express 34 is a SATA II controller for Apple or Windows laptops. It has 2 eSATA connectors with port multiplier functionality.

When connected to basic SATA enclosures, this card allows you to control 2 drives (1 per port), however when used with enclosures which support port multiplication, such as the Sonnet Fusion D500P, it can control 5 disks per controller - allowing your MacBook Pro to control up to 10 disks with a data transfer rate of 133 MB per second per port.

Please note the following warning from Sonnet: While some customers have successfully used external hard drives with dual USB 2.0/eSATA interfaces, these products (based on the Oxford Semiconductor OXU931DS storage controller chip) exhibit underlying errors that prevent them from being fully compatible with this Sonnet product under Mac OS X. Kernel panics occurring when the drive is connected, and the drive not being recognized by the operating system are known issues. These drives include, but are not limited to:

This product is compatible with the following Macs:

MacBook Pro 15.4": Not compatible with models released from June 2009, since these do not have an ExpressCard expansion slot.
